January has been an extremely busy month in music at Discovery Academy!  Interested fourth graders started after-school instrumental lessons on violin, viola, or trumpet.  Choir continued to rehearse, and the Discovery singers are sounding better and better every week.  Selected first graders even played keyboards during our “What I need” (WIN) block at the end of the day.

November has been a very busy month for the Discovery Academy musicians!  We held our first ever choir auditions for interested third and fourth grade singers.  These young singers each performed vocal warm-ups and read and performed rhythms and solfege patterns– all by themselves.  With almost 45 singers, this is sure to be a wonderful ensemble.  Mark your calendars now for the choir’s spring performance at Music and Arts Night on Thursday, May 26th.

First through fourth grade music open houses are also just around the corner.  Open houses are a time where families are invited to join their students for a music class.  Students will share their favorite songs, games, and more!  This is a wonderful way to make music together, so I hope to see many families there.  The exact dates for each class are on the music events calendar (below), and students will be coming home with reminder letters right after Thanksgiving.
